What does SKOT stand for?

What's in a name? In the case of SKOT, a lot! When we started with the idea of ​​making beautiful clothing as sustainable as possible, we naturally needed a name. And you can easily divide entrepreneurs into two groups. Those who have a name but no plan yet, and those who have a plan but no name yet. So I clearly belonged to the latter group. 

After many sessions with professional help, I think we had covered all possible letter combinations. Our advisor came up with SKOFT. That means 'pause' in Frisian. The idea behind it was that the clothing world needed a break, to stop the 'race to the bottom'. This idea was very appealing, except that the name was also very similar to Schoft and we did not want to convey that. 

And what if we take away the F? Then came the small adjustment to SKOT. That means 'treasure' in Frisian (although later it turned out that there were other opinions about this). That had to be it! I thought a Frisian name was fine, because I am originally from Friesland and I think it is important to stay close to yourself. And with 'darling' we emphasize that you have to take care of valuable things. Precious things like the world, like the people around you. Cherish all this as a treasure. And by wearing SKOT, you show that you want to contribute to the beautiful things on this earth. 

That's how SKOT was born. And we still implement the idea behind the name every day. We want to make beautiful things, and we think that our sustainable T-shirts, polos and shirts fully meet this goal. The fabrics are of high quality, are made from 100% organic cotton and are made under fair conditions. 

We show that things can really be done differently, and that it is not that difficult at all. For example, we do not use buttons made of plastic but of coconut and corozo, which is made from a plant. We want to emphasize with small visible details that you can effortlessly contribute to a better world. Just look at the green line in many of our products, or our logo, which represents a world in harmony.
